The World Is Running Out Of Energy Resources

You may not have noticed in your day to day life but the world is facing an energy crisis. We all depend on energy to do just about everything we use, see and experience and there are greater demands now than ever before on our depleting energy resources.

To those who say there is plenty for now I would say you must be pretty heartless to not be concerned about your children’s future. The oil may last for our lifetimes but what happens after that? Our children could live in a world with no oil and no plastics, that are made from oil. Can you imagine life without either oil or plastic? One thing is sure. It wouldn’t be anything like the life we are used to.

There are alternative energy resources we can use. There are sustainable energy supplies that we can use and work with nature instead of working against it.

I don’t subscribe to the view that we are destroying the planet. We are not. The planet will carry on long after mankind disappears from the face of the earth. The planet will rebuild itself and that may or may not include life on earth. The planet doesn’t care about us.

We, should care about us. We are destroying the planet’s ability to sustain us and all the various and wonderful lifeforms that have appeared on this planet. We like to think we are an intelligent species but what intelligent species would destroy it’s only possible habitat? Locusts and viruses might do that but then we don’t think of them as intelligent.

We are the only species that can make choices about how the planet looks in 100, 1000, or one million years.

The dinosaurs survived for 20 million years before dying out. We like to think we are intelligent but it is very hard to see how we will survive for a fraction of that time if we carry on as we are now doing.

We have the intelligence and the ability to enjoy a rich and varied lifestyle. We can have a planet that we work with and it will support us. If we simply carry on as we have been doing we will destroy the ability of the planet to support the human race and any survivors will be back to living in caves. We can and must leave a better legacy than that for future generations.
